Welcome. I’m Gina Jones. I have over 28 years of working as a Psychotherapist. I am also a Recognised Training Supervisor.

My approach is Integrative, relational, embodied and transpersonal.  I hold an intentionality of working inclusively with what I perceive to be the totality of the nature of what it is to be a human being of mind-body-soul. For me this means drawing from a wide range of disciplines and theoretical frameworks and practices from many traditions including psychodynamic thoughts, understanding, principles and practices, and humanistic informed understanding and practices. I experience the therapeutic relationship as a potential space and vehicle and container for the depth work that is required for growth and development and an opportunity to receive support in processing old past wounds and traumas. As much suffering arises in relationship the way forward also requires relational contact and connection to give the impetus and opportunity to work through, and digest what was overwhelming or just too much to be with to fully stay with.  This then can lead to habits of thinking, feeling and or doing to self-protect, that can long outlive the damage originally posed and can in part re-create them inadvertently, whilst simultaneously desperately working hard to prevent them reoccurring. So the work can often involve attending to and bringing awareness to old patterns, born out of past pain of the there and then, to free up more capacity in our system to be in the here and the now responsively, and flexibly, rather than rigidly and reactively. The unprocessed pains, hurt and trauma, if not processed can  often remain held in the mind-body-soul system, on all levels – at a cellular, biochemical, neurological, emotional, psychological, spiritual level- unconsciously and consciously. These unresolved past experiences of suffering can become unconscious and automatic entrenched ways of relating to self, other and the world and beyond. These early imprints and learned patterns will have a profound impact and influence on how an individual grows and develops, and will determine the extent to which they are able to access the fullness that life and living has to offer.

I offer weekly 60 minute hour weekly therapy sessions and supervision sessions.

My Training and Experience

I have had an established private practice in Northampton since 2005 and I have over 13 years experience of working clinically in the CAMHS/NHS.

My initial training was in Health Psychology as I have a long-standing interest in the connection and interplay between the mind and body systems and a depth understanding of the importance of working with the whole human experience in an holistic, relational and transpersonal way. This includes being responsive and receptive to inclusivity of  the totality of what it is to be human and dynamics therein.

Being an Integrative Psychotherapist for me means being able to draw from a rich, range of theories and practices in order to meet what is brought into the therapy room. Integration of the mind-body-spirit experience is at the heart of the work to support healing health and well-being. The way I work draws from a psycho-spiritual oriented practice, body-based psychotherapy traditions, the relational school of psychotherapy and psychodynamic practice and theory.

My main clinical training was at the Karuna Institute where I completed an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy (CPP). CPP is a mindfulness-based approach to therapy and emphasizes a deep, ongoing awareness of one’s body and mind for self-exploration and healing.

I am in ongoing supervision and continuous continued professional training and development.

What to expect at your first meeting

I offer an initial introductory appointment, in order to gather all the relevant information we both feel we need to know. This process allows us to explore working together and for me to hear more about what you are hoping for in attending therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy and for us to identify the best way forward together for you.

Supervision

I am a UKCP Recognised Training Supervisor and I have over 10 years post qualification experience of being a clinical supervisor.  I work relationally, transpersonally and integratively in my supervisory practice. I offer a reflective space for supervisees to inquire into arising process to facilitate a deeper and wider awareness, understanding and insight into their work and arising process in relation to their work with others. The intention for the supervisory space is to hold the best interests of clients, as well as supporting supervisees with their growth and their own personal process in relation to their clinical work as well as their own professional development. I draw from Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Transpersonal, Relational and Somatic and Body-based traditions.

Supervision is a relational space to reflect, be curious, deepen & expand awareness and involves challenge, support, honesty and vulnerability.
