Member Profile
I am UKCP registered psychotherapist with over 35 years experience.
Through the eighties I explored many different kinds of therapeutic approaches, studied traditional medicine systems and trained as an ante natal teacher.
After completing a years psychodynamic counselling training, I went on to train in Core Process Psychotherapy ( a mindfulness based approach) at the Karuna institute.
People who I have trained with and those who have influenced my work in other ways include Nigel Williams & Louise Robinson, (Psychodynamic Counselling Training), Maura and Franklyn Sills (Core Process Psychotherapy Training), Joanna and Fran Macy(Deep Ecology), Barbara McGavin (Focusing), Llwellwyn Vaughan-Lee (Jungian Dream-work & Sufism), , Bessel Van De Kolk, Peter Levine (Trauma), Angwyn St Just (Constellation Work/ Social Trauma), Chris Johnstone, Alex Wildwood, Maitrisara (Eco-Psychology/’The Work that Re-connects’ & Resilience practitioner training), Jim Dymond, Patti Howe and Will Parfit and the many colleagues who have shared the journey.
Over the last 15 years I have been developing a nature based practice mainly with groups working in woodlands and teaching ecopsychology to counselling students. I’ve been part of the Wisdom tree team at Hazelhill Wood near Salisbury facilitating days & residentials for people working in high stress occupations and I have also been part of the teaching team for Sweettrack counselling in Glastonbury – one of the only counselling trainings in the UK to incorporate ecopsychology into their level 3, 4 & 5 trainings. I work on a Monday in a woodland setting throughout the whole year and feel that this setting adds something special.
Supervision
Clinical supervision offers a confidential and safe place for therapists to reflect on and review their work.
I feel passionately that developing a supervisory relationship where we can digest the impact of what we hold with our clients, where we can develop as a therapist, grow confidence, recognize our ‘learning edges’, all without feeling judged is an essential ingredient of growing and maintaining a thriving healthy practice.
I offer supervision based on a contemplative model. I have been a supervisor for over 30 years, offering both individual and small group supervision.
I work both in my Glastonbury garden cabin, at Hallr wood (on a Monday) and online
